为什么C不行？C：那些买了10gallons或以上的顾客是否会少量但是多次购买。如果是的话，那么无论有没有促销他们都会买10gallons。那么既然没有促销也会买这么多，8月份的促销就没有用了，那么这个增长就不是促销带来的。这个逻辑不通吗？

就是说 个体如果同比增长10%，再看看整体水平是不是也是同比增长10%。如果有的话，证明promotion的效果没什么大作用。

答案应该是A，整个argument是要说明去年8月的这个temporary promotion(TP)是一种有效的促销手段，跟sales有关，跟profitability无关;C太片面了，且样本不具有代表性，有也好，没有也好，个别消费者的消费行为不能影响整体的销售走势;A则是从大势上来考量，如果去年8月的销售增长是得益于整体经济形势向好，从而推动加油站经营表现上升，就不能说是这个TP导致了sales的增长，说TP有效就证据不足了。
