虽然选对了，但是正确答案的同位语用法有点令人迷茫：
ron在study hall讲过，如果同位语是实意名词，那么一定是修饰preceding noun的。这里同位语是structures,那么就是修饰religious edifices,但这样意思就很奇怪了，因为religious edifices不会represent public realm,理想应该是修饰cathedral。不知道这道题是不是个例外

攒下人品：
D用封闭式平行，此时community centers与purely religious edifices比较，不存在比较歧义的情况。as opposed to=rather than,而不是，表示对比；opposite of与...对立，表示一种非黑即白，两个不coexit.
A. and they错误，分号之后是完整句子，and是连词；being a private one冗余。
B. 开放式平行，易产生歧义，purely religious edifices与谁平行，主语还是谓语；to private what，形容词后没有修饰对象
C. as well as后面属于次要，而本题两者是一样，community centers 和edifices没有主次之分；a ones不平行
E. opposite

看网上的解释ABCE选项they不清晰unclear，官方也这么说，但是they优先指代主语，我觉得没啥问题，欢迎讨论

错题6反思：
1、B选项：①they were structures中的they无所指代②cathedrals（教堂）不是结构③to private what，形容词后没有修饰对象就戛然而止了，错。
2、我草，我就是选了C选项：as well as表示附属关系，人家原句的逻辑语义就是as much as比较的，不是附属关系，不要乱改别人的逻辑关系，B选项as much as （比较关系）改成as well as（附属关系），错。
3、E选项：①as much+名词 as they were，这个they有歧义，而且这个结构不符合习惯表达② opposite of不符合习惯表达，不优
4、D选线：as much+名词 as +名词，这样的结构才是对的，structures that represented a city’s commitment to a public realm, as opposed to a private one就近修饰edifices，正确

一开始看到as much as就直接选了C，因为从没有见过这种用法。再做排除的话，A是being，B的a public realm和private不平行，C的a public realm和private ones不平行，E的opposite of用法错误，structures 后应该接that。GMAT正确选项中大多都是代词较少的，有代词就容易有问题，可以上下对比看一下代词指代的是什么。

B的错误，如果不懂as much as的话，可以用这个排除。private后没有名词，应为a private one。
C的错误，private ones 和 a public realm 不平行，单复数不一致。
E的错误，they were(redundant)
D的as much+n. as可以这样理解：与其说cathedrals是纯正的religious edifices，不如说它们是community centres.
