The cathedrals of the Middle Ages were community centers just as much as they were purely
religious edifices; and they were structures that represented a city’s commitment to a public realm,
the opposite of being a private one.
A. and they错误,分号之后是完整句子,and是连词;they were structures中的they无所指代,cathedrals(教堂)不是结构;being a private one冗余。
B. they were structures中的they无所指代,cathedrals(教堂)不是结构;to private what,形容词后没有修饰对象。
C. as well as表示附属关系,与原句意不同。
E. as much...as结构不平行,they are as much...as...,第一个引号和第二个引号内容应该平行,而E的第二个引号是一个完整的句子

Choice A: There's a sentence after a semicolon and no conjunction such as "and" in this sentence. Let me put it this way, you can regard a semicolon as a conjunction. Choice B: The problem is the pronoun of "they". More importantly, "be opposite of" means 相反的 while "as opposed to" implies 对立的. Choice C: "ones". Choice E: Appositive clause is "a noun + "that" clause.

The cathedrals of the Middle Ages were as much community centers as purely religious edifices, structures that represented a city’s commitment to a public realm, as opposed to a private one. being a private one冗余,being不优选。 B The cathedrals是教堂, 第二句的 they were structures中的they无所指代,cathedrals(教堂)不是结构;结尾处,本应该represent public realm, as opposed to private realm,B 中 to private what,形容词后没有修饰对象。 C. as well as表示附属关系,与原句意不同。 B。 D. as much community centers as purely religious edifices, structures that represented a city’s commitment to a public realm, as opposed to a private one 正确原因: 1 as much as 结构平行 2 edifices, structures that 同位语 3 public realm to private one 平行 用法 as much () as() () as much as () 前后括号的成分平行 但是AE 名词和句 不平行

as opposed to=rather than,而不是,表示对比;opposite of与... A. and they错误,分号之后是完整句子,and是连词;being a private one冗余。 B. 开放式平行,易产生歧义,purely religious edifices与谁平行,主语还是谓语;to private what,形容词后没有修饰对象 C. as well as后面属于次要,而本题两者是一样,community centers 和edifices没有主次之分;a ones不平行 E. opposite 看网上的解释ABCE选项they不清晰unclear,官方也这么说,但是they优先指代主语,我觉得没啥问题,欢迎讨论

The cathedrals of the Middle Ages were as much community centers just as purely religious edifices

错题6反思: 1、B选项:①they were structures中的they无所指代②cathedrals(教堂)不是结构③to private what,形容词后没有修饰对象就戛然而止了,错。 2、我草,我就是选了C选项:as well as表示附属关系,人家原句的逻辑语义就是as much as比较的,不是附属关系,不要乱改别人的逻辑关系,B选项as much as (比较关系)改成as well as(附属关系),错。 3、E选项:①as much+名词 as they were,这个they有歧义,而且这个结构不符合习惯表达② opposite of不符合习惯表达,不优 4、D选线:as much+名词 as +名词,这样的结构才是对的,structures that represented a city’s commitment to a public realm, as opposed to a private one就近修饰edifices,正确

再做排除的话,A是being,B的a public realm和private不平行,C的a public realm和private ones不平行,E的opposite of用法错误,structures 后应该接that。

D的as much+n. as可以这样理解:与其说cathedrals是纯正的religious edifices,不如说它们是community centres.

as much as不是修饰不可数名词的吗?
230401rok
以及as opposed to a private one的as是和哪个as并列?

B的错误,如果不懂as much as的话,可以用这个排除。 E的错误,they were(redundant) D的as much+n. as可以这样理解:与其说cathedrals是纯正的religious edifices,不如说它们是community centres.
