A. their中指代有误，Insects不可能去encountering逻辑不对。Upon这个词：在…上面; 当…时候。
B. their指谁？They指谁？
C. -it指谁?
D. 在南美洲第一次遇到割叶蚂蚁时，一些欧洲人认为这些昆虫携带着一些绿色植物来遮挡自己，而不是热带太阳——这就是绰号“阳伞蚂蚁”。
E. their无指代，it指ants也不对，though后面句式残缺且累赘
这个题目的考点就是 逻辑主语是否能发出句首短语的动作，明显the insects/ it不可以encountering，然后就是句首短语的代词有问题

主要their 代词放在句首吧，往往很多问题的，一是有可能是指代有歧义，指代不明，二是有可能是无所指代

1.垂悬修饰：encounter的逻辑主语是europeans，所以需要主句主语是europeans，排除AC。2.E中的it无指代对象，排除。3.redundant错误：当比较选项后发现有的是 first encountering 有的是their first encountering，那their大概率就是redundant。4.B的their和they同时出现且指代不同对象，有指代不清的毛病。3和4不属于绝对错误放后面排除B
