从主语和前面的状语关系来看,Earth(首字母大写表示地球)显然在语义上不能cover the planet,所以AE排除。
BC选项有neither nor的固定搭配,is neither seamless nor is it stationary显然不平行,可直接排除。排除下来只有D选项相对优选。

转自别人的回答 这里的but并没有引导主句,而是作为主句中的一个固定搭配: neither..nor..but rather.. 你说的情况是although引导了让步状语从句,然后主句开头有but,比如说ALTHOUGH it covers the entire planet, BUT Earth’s crust is neither seamless nor stationary..这样就不对了

Although 和 But不是不能用在一个句子里吗?

despite 后面只可以跟简单名词 although后面要跟完整的句子, neither nor, but rather 既不是也不是,而是。<=习惯用语。 如果改成neither nor, but容易把整个句子变成but跟前面although有平行句,有多余的连词的问题。 再来,要注意neither nor的平行问题。 最后语义逻辑问题,earth不可以cover planet,只有crust才可以。

像despite, due to这样的词后面只能跟简单的名词短语 ABC就直接pass了

1、看到这种开头,考虑主语必须是句首动作的发出者,2、看到not..or...,neither..nor..要注意平行
