Many teenagers undergo stress, but results of a recent study indicate that the patterns of stress that girls experience are more likely to result in depression than are those that boys experience.
选项A 正确 results of a recent study indicate that the patterns of stress that girls experience are more likely to result in depression than are those that boys experience. than之后需要倒装;those指代patterns ,THAN 前后 patterns are平行
499685skw
简化比较:the patterns of stress (of girls) are more likely... than the patterns of stress (of boys) are。是“the pattern of stress are"在做对比,助动词应该是are,所以选A。
补充一点:是stress patterns that girls experienced 和 stress patterns that boy experienced 在做对比,不是单纯的stress patterns of boys(这种组合按英文逻辑也听起来怪怪的),所以E选项是不对的。

If we omit the verb, then the sentence would be: Many teenagers undergo stress, but results of a recent study indicate that the patterns of stress that girls experience are more likely to result in depression than those that boys experience. Or Many teenagers undergo stress, but results of a recent study indicate that the patterns of stress that girls experience are more likely to result in depression than patterns of stress that boys experience. This sentence can be misinterpreted as: Many teenagers undergo stress, but results of a recent study indicate that the patterns of stress that girls experience are more likely to result in depression than (in) patterns of stress that boys experience. In other words, the patterns of stress that girls experience are more likely to result i) in depression than ii) (in) patterns of stress that boys experience. So, the patterns of stress that girls experience are more likely to result in depression; the patterns of stress that girls experience are less likely to result in patterns of stress that boys experience. However, this is clearly not the intended meaning.
Venni
平行结构中的比较句,正确句子应该是:patterns of stress that...are more likely to....than those that... are;然后are前置了 选错是因为没有理解透彻平行结构中的比较句

前面的是the patterns of stress that girls experience,也后面也应该是the patterns of stress that boys experience或同样的逻辑表达。

→(the patterns of stress) that boys experience are (likely to result in depression) →those that boys experience are →are those that boys experience

"patterns of stress that girls experience are more likely to result in" (depression than what boys experience."有歧义 Boys could be experiencing happiness
Ms Eh
比较前后:the patterns of stress that girls experience are 和 are those that boys experience 1. the patterns of stress对应those; 2. that girl experience 对应that boys experience; 3. Than后面倒装,将are 提前,还原应该是 the patterns of stress that boys experience are.

D项不能用do的原因:用了do意味着你想用它refer to “result”,充当一个linking verb。

RON公开课20100513讲过,然后than后面是不一定要倒装的,HELPING VERB可以提前 - I can run faster than my bro. - I can run faster than my bro can. - I can run faster than can my bro.

the pattern of stress(that girls experience) are more likely to result in depression than the pattern of stress(that boy experience) are more likely to result in. helping verb 是 are,不是result(do) those 指代 the pattern of stress
