ability of doing 是合理的。但一般是claim to do..

A选项的it指代模糊;D选项的to be able to do sth是正确的结构。
显然表达a firm 有什么ability还是用to be able to do sth更直接。

(A)from a one-page writing sample that it can assess 【错误】 句子意思:“from a one-page writing sample”本意上是“assess”的状语,合起来表意为“从一页书写样本中评估出(人格特征)”,那么为了修饰“assess”,“from a one-page writing sample”本应与其处于同一个主谓结构内,也就是“that”之后的从句中,而不是出现在“that”之前的主句中。 (B)from a one-page writing sample it has the ability of assessing 【错误】 句子意思:“it has the ability of assessing……” (C)the ability, from a one-page writing sample, of assessing 【错误1】固定搭配:不存在“ability of doing sth.” (D)to be able, from a one-page writing sample, to assess 【正确】 正确使用了“to be able to do sth.” (E)being able to assess, from a one-page writing sample 【错误】 固定搭配:不存在“claim being able to”的用法。 【最优解题思路推荐】 围绕“from a one-page writing sample”的修饰关系进行语义分析,(A)、(B)、(C)表意不明,排除。 即便不知道“claim being able to”是错的,也可以根据“being”相对不简洁排除(E),因此选择(D)。

Claim to do不是non-idiom的吗?

Be able to do原来不是只有人可以用啊

ability of doing 是不合理的,曼哈顿上已经指出只有ability to do是争取的

只能用ability to do sth 而不能是 ability of doing sth!

claim to do 为一般的搭配方法
