【OG20-P813-901题】
Last week local shrimpers held a news conference to take some credit for the resurgence of the rare Kemp’s ridley turtle, saying that their compliance with laws requiring that turtle-excluder devices be on shrimp nets protect adult sea turtles.

对turtle-excluder devices on shirmp的法律。扔掉之后变成their compliance with law is protecting adult sea turtles,完全正确。也就是对这个法律的遵守,(什么法律?要求对抓虾的工具要把乌龟放掉的法律)保护了乌龟。
Steven Ye
OG官方:To use an infinitive, to require, seems to indicate that requiring these devices is the objective of the laws, when in fact the objective is to protect the sea turtles.

compliance 是主语,谓语单数 law V-ing 表法律的内容性质 law to do 表法律的目的
ziqi
看懂这道题的主语是compliance
lavin.Z
再错又错了一遍。。 1.区分句子核心词,无论是[requirng...]/[to require],都是作为定语修饰laws;而作为动词名词化comply with laws-->compliance with laws,因此核心词在此处是compliance;所以谓语动词有单数,排除 剩下BE选项 2.to do表目的,而requiring作为定语修饰laws,补充说明laws的性质,因此根据语义,选择requring,B选项
angelfighting
这句话 主语是their compliance,是单数,排除acd。语义上require 修饰compliance,排除e

摘自曼哈顿ron: (b) is the correct answer. it uses "require" with a direct object, as discussed above, and it also correctly uses the singular verb "is" with the singular subject "compliance". (we know "compliance" is the subject, because "with ..." is a prepositional phrase that serves only as a modifier of that subject.) -- (c) "protect" is a plural verb and so doesn't agree with the singular subject "compliance". -- (d) "are" is a plural verb and so doesn't agree with the singular subject "compliance". -- (d) and (e) "laws to require..." isn't a correct idiom if you're discussing the actual text of the laws themselves. if you were discussing the ultimate purpose of those laws, then this could be idiomatic. examples: laws specifying long jail sentences for drunk drivers --> correct (___ing), since that's what the laws actually specify. laws to specify long jail sentences for drunk drivers --> incorrect (that's not the ultimate purpose of the laws) laws to discourage drunk driving --> correct (this IS actually the ultimate purpose of the laws)
