Like their male counterparts, women scientists are above average in terms of intelligence and creativity, but unlike men of science, their female counterparts have had to work against the grain of occupational stereotyping to enter a "man's world."
Like their male counterparts, women scientists are…, but unlike men of science, women of science have had to…
A. 划线部分的their与前面的their指代不一致。
B. problem与men比较对象不对等;is working改变了原句时态及意思,原句中的have had to有“不得不”的意思。
C. one thing与men比较对象不对等;they指代对象不清楚;系动词is后面应该跟to work,而不是直接加动词work。
D. handicap与work against有语意上的重复。
E. 正确。

注意这里有两个比较,第一个是like their male counterparts,women...; 第二个是but unlike men of science,题目中指的是第二个比较,而不是第一个比较

have had to do 是什么时态呀

the present perfect suggests that the current group of women scientists have had to deal with this problem, but doesn't suggest that it's a general / timeless truth. another example: Lawyers have had to work hard to become partners in their firms --> suggests that lawyers have had to do this until now, but carries no implication about whether this will continue to happen.

ab their指代错误,前面their和这里的their不是同一个
mello
。。 我觉得A的问题是, men of science 的their women counterparts应该指men‘s women counterparts,所以如果要对应,需要说成their women counterparts of science才是语义正确。。。

简卌
like their male counterparts = like women scientists' male counterparts; their有所指:women scientists unlike men of science, their female counterparts = unlike men of science, men's counterparts; their 只能指men 比较上述两句发现,前者比较的是男女科学家,后者比较的是男人和女人,所以前者表达比后者表达更精确,虽然后者在理解上似乎很容易和前者保持一致。

A.答案中的their和前面的their指代不一致
Johnny97
根据修饰可以排出bcd,a与e的区别在于代词they和women of science本身,由于前句已经有their指代women,这里的they可能指代women,也可能指代men,容易歧义,所以选择women of science避免歧义
peach

考点:比较 unlike比较,主句主语要立马给出比较对象,比较对象要具有可比性; A men of science和their female counterparts不可比; B men of science和their problem不可比; C men of science和one thing不可比; D men of science和the handicap不可比; E 正确
