Smithtown University's fund-raisers succeeded in getting donations from 80 percent of the potential donors they contacted. This success rate, exceptionally high for university fund-raisers, does not indicate that they were doing a good job. On the contrary, since the people most likely to donate are those who have donated in the past, good fund-raisers constantly try less-likely prospects in an effort to expand the donor base. The high success rate shows insufficient canvassing effort.
Which of the following, if true, provides more support for the argument?

这里就是要注意到 potential doner 不等于 who have donated

错选了C,原文讨论的是potential donors they contacted,C说的是without any contact with the donors,跳出范围了

80% high success rate - look good but shows bad canvasing 增强:bad canvassing 能力不好 a.在new donor方面的成功率和其他大学的一样,说明high success rate is a result of old donors即他们主要联系的都是old donors 增强了bad canvassing

bad canvassing=do not reach new donor

good fund-raisers constantly try less-likely prospects in an effort to expand the donor base评价标准:可以成功地开拓新财路(因为新donors不太可能捐钱,所以募捐者的成功率越低,说明他们接触的新donors越多)。A:所有大学的募捐者都频繁地在联系新donors(但是他们募到的钱还是主要来源于老主顾),所以他们并不成功。

G-mad
Litchichi
